HOW A CAC WORKS
How a CAC works
The United States has the highest rate of child abuse and neglect of any industrialized nation in the world.
More than 5 children a day die in this country as a result of child abuse or neglect with 80% of them ages four and under, too young and/or too frightened to cry for help.

More than 5 children a day die in this country as a result of child abuse or neglect with 80% of them ages four and under, too young and/or too frightened to cry for help.

When children do have the courage to report abuse, the traditional response of sending a child to a doctor’s office or calling DHS means kids end up retelling their painful story over and over as more people get involved thereby reliving their trauma.
Often the environments in which they are asked to share their experience are clinical and can inadvertently make kids feel more embarrassed and scared than they already are.

But a Children’s Advocacy Center like SafeSpace, offers a single point of contact for children and their families to get the help they need.
By providing and coordinating all necessary support services such as forensic interviews, medical assessments, child and family advocacy, and law enforcement, we help child abuse victims become survivors through hope, justice, and healing.
